Restoration of a terracotta kitchen floor

A tired and dirty terracotta kitchen/dining room floor was spruced up ready for Christmas.

Having been down for several years, this terracotta floor was looking tired, with engrained dirt and signs of needing the sealant replacing.

Prior to commencing any works, protective measures were taken - plastexe floor protector on , skirtings taped up and kick boards removed.

To remove the build-up of dirt and cleaning products which had left the floor looking dull, the floor was stripped using a diluted solution of LTP Grimex.

This was then, agitated using an industrial buffer to ensure that the solution worked to maximum effect, it was then left to penetrate and lift any further detritus.

After 5-10 minutes, the floor was neutralised with clean water and the solution was then removed with a wet/dry vacuum and allowed to dry.

The Restoration Team returned to seal the floor using LTP Ironwax gloss which prevents staining from oil, grease and water and leave a high gloss finish. On this occasion, two coats were used but depending on how deep a shine is required, upto 7 coats can be applied.

"I am absolutely thrilled, it looks brand new!"
