International week at Tudor Grange Academy
Tudor Grange Academy, Worcester aim to promote an understanding of the multicultural society in which we live and encourage global awareness through zooming-in on the languages and cultures of other countries.
Students participate in a range of fun and creative activities and trips during “International Week”, the final week of the academic year, as a reward for the commitment to their studies. The week offers all students a unique opportunity to further develop their knowledge and motivation, while learning new skills also.
This year, the country of focus was Spain! Activities included:
- Language lessons
- Flamenco dancing
- Immersion in the dramatic arts- dance, art, drama and music
- Studying the history of the Spanish Civil War
- A variety of international sports
We at Worcester Tile felt honored to be contacted by the school and asked for some of our products for use in an art project.
Rebecca Jones, the lead teacher of the Design and Technology department, said “Worcester Tile are local and always stock a colourful and bright range, which is perfect for our project.”
The project got students to create colourful displays of the Osborne bull in the style of Antoni Gaudi, a famous Spanish architect. We provided boxes of broken or discontinued tiles to be used, along with tile adhesive, for a mosaic effect. Thus, the bulls of Worcester Tile were born!
“The end result is amazing and we’re very happy to have participated,” says Peter Haley, Director at Worcester Tile Limited. “Congratulations to the students for producing the work and many thanks to the staff for getting us involved!”
